I am a retired architect which means that I now have the opportunity to pursue my life-long passion for art. Over the past four years, I have begun to focus primarily on portraiture in pencil, charcoal, acrylics, and oils. While I prefer to work when possible from life, I can work from photographs I take of the subject or that are given to me by friends. I also work from photographs I find in any number of places including old books, antique stores, and family albums. While working toward an accurate likeness, I try to bring out what I see as the essence of character and mood and the unique qualities of the individual. It is always a challenge, but one that I enjoy.
